Heart War or Xin Zhan by Alan is the theme song of John Woo’s Red Cliff. This epic movie is released in 2 parts as the entire length of the movie is 4 hours! The first part had been released just before the start of Beijing Olympic 2008 and the second part is going to be available in next January. Unfortunately, the first part of Red Cliff got poor reviews by critics and in my opinion, they are too harsh as I found it highly entertaining and I’m looking forward to the second part. My only complain is the ending has left me wanting to watch the other part and that is still 3 months more… The music video [MV] of this song is just like the movie as it’s more than 6 minutes long! However, one can see some of the scenes from the upcoming final part of the movie particularly the burning of the warships which is the most talked about scenes from Red Cliff. Here are the MV and live performance by Alan:
After releasing Little Dimple or Xiao Jiu Wo, a duet with Charlene Choi, Lin Jun Jie who is going to release his new album in the middle of this month has another teaser for his fans. This time it is Drunken Red Cliff or Zui Chi Bi, the official theme song of the online game, Red Cliff Online. This song reminds me of Heaven or Cang Tian by Nicky Lee Jiu Je which is the theme song for another online game, Heaven Online. These may signal the start of a trend where companies of online games will rope in popular Chinese pop artistes to sing their theme songs. However, Drunken Red Cliff or Zui Chi Bi seems to be out of place in the music video [MV] as I feel that the song isn’t really suitable for such game. You can watch both the MV and live performance of Drunken Red Cliff by Lin Jun Jie:
Fragrant Rice or Dao Xiang is one of the songs included in Jay Chou’s latest album, Capricorn or Mo Jie Zuo. Although this song is the last track of the album, Fragrant Rice or Dao Xiang is easily one of the best songs if not the best in Jay Chou’s new album. This can be seen from all the discussions generated on this song alone even before the release of the album itself and in the numerous ‘homemade’ versions available in various websites. Many listeners who can play piano had made an ‘instrumental’ version of this song and posted them online. However, I feel that the most difficult part is to actually sing this song because even singing Fragrant Rice along with the lyric on hand is no easy task… As usual, here are the music video [MV] and homemade versions of Dao Xiang by Jay Chou:
Charlene Choi or Ah Sa who had just recently released a solo effort, Make A Wish, is back with another single, Little Dimple or Xiao Jiu Wo. Although this song is a duet with Singaporean Lin Jun Jie, it shows Ah Sa is really serious and leaving no stones unturned in her effort to establish her solo music career. Little Dimple or Xiao Jiu Wo is one of those cute songs that can make M&M chocolates melt before they are in your mouth! Unfortunately, the music video [MV] failed to leave any significant or lasting impression on me. Here are the MV and lyric of Xiao Jiu Wo by Lin Jun Jie and Charlene Choi:
