Ronald Cheng Chung Kei has finally released Freak or Guai Tai, a Mandarin version of Rascal or Wu Lai [Mou Lai]. Mou Lai was the most popular song in 2005 as voted in TVB Jade Solid Gold. It also won numerous awards and most importantly, the recognition for Ronald Cheng. I don’t think I need to provide further information on this song or its newer version as they are so popular and well-known that I’m sure almost all Chinese pop music fans have heard of them at least a few times. This post is to show a few interesting music videos [MV] of Guai Tai and Mou Lai including a special version featuring many other Hong Kong singers and actors such as Alex Fong, Stephy Tang and Sam Lee. Here are the music videos:
Ronald Cheng has released a new album, Freak [New + Best Selection], and as suggested by the title of the album, it’s a compilation album. Freak or Guai Tai is also the title of the first single which is a new song and Mandarin version of his most popular hit, Rascal or Wu Lai [Mou Lai]. The other interesting new song is Loneliness Of A Hero or Ying Xiong Mo, the theme song of the TV drama series, The Legend of Condor Heroes. However, I don’t think this is a good compilation of Ronald Cheng’s best songs because a few of his better hits are left out. In fact, his last compilation album, “Karaoke Cheng” New + Best Selection, is a better buy for those who are looking for his older hits but unfortunately, it will not be easy to get it as it was released some time ago. Anyway, I’m going to make a post dedicated to his 2005 hit, Mou Lai. Stay tuned!

Jacky Cheung Hok Yau or Zhang Xue You is a veteran Hong Kong singer and actor who is best known as one of Cantopop Four Heavenly Kings. The other ‘Kings’ are Aaron Kwok, Andy Lau and Leon Lai. Jacky Cheung started his music career in the mid 1980s after winning a national singing competition and went on to release almost 60 albums to date. He managed to remain popular throughout his music career which spanned more than 20 years as shown by the numerous awards won by him. I select this album, Black & White [New + Best Selection], which was released back in 2004 as an introduction to his songs as it is the last album [if I remember correctly] from him which contains both new and past hits.

As requested by dian from Philippines in the Hins Cheung - My First Collection post, here’s the lyric of Hurt So Bad by Hins Cheung or Zhang Jing Xuan. This song was first released together in the Mandarin album of Hins Cheung, The Seasons, in 2006 and later included in his first compilation album which was released at the very end of last year. The compilation album, My First Collection, also included another version of this song. However, I’ll only post the Hanyu Pinyin version of this lyric as I’m still busy with other more urgent matters. Thus, there will be no original Chinese lyric or English translation of this lyric. Here’s the music video [MV] of Hurt So Bad and My Way by Hins Cheung:
