I Won’t Last A Day Without You by Jolin Tsai is one of the covers in her latest English album, Love Exercise, an album of covers containing only covers of English hits… [I better stop mentioning ‘covers’]. I Won’t Last A Day Without You is a hit by The Carpenters in 1974 and it can also found in other versions by various singers including Diana Ross. In fact, this song was released earlier by two other singers in 1973 before it was made a hit by The Carpenters themselves! As mentioned earlier, I’m not really a fan of such ‘re-singing’ with the exception of a few brilliantly made and extensively modified ones. Thus, I can safely says that I can last *many* days without the latest reincarnation of this song by Jolin Tsai:
After 12 months, Hotcha finally released their second album, Sexy Funny Cool, which has a more tasteful cover and better selection of songs compared to their debut album. Sexy Funny Cool has a total of 8 songs, 1 more than the previous album, and it also has a duet, Burning Bore, La La La or Huo Re Men Gun La La La, with I Love You Boyz. This time, the cover reminds me of another female group, S.H.E, from Taiwan as it is oozing with playfulness and youthfulness while the cover of their first album seemed to be using their sex appeals as the selling point. However, Hotcha is nothing compared to Freeze when it comes to using cleavages and skins to attract attention from the gullible young male teenagers…

Ken Hung who had released his previous album, Go, in January this year, has released another new album, Next Attraction. This album also contains 10 tracks, of which all are Cantonese numbers except for the last track, which is a Mandarin song. The Mandarin song, The Boy Saw the Wild Roses or Nan Hai Kan Jian Ye Mei Gui is actually the Mandarin version of track 3 of the same title. Next Attraction also contains Want To Be With You or Hen Xiang He Ni Zai Yi Qi, the theme song of the upcoming movie, Want To Be With You, which starred Ken Hung. I have a doubt on the overall quality of this new album by Ken Hung because albums that are churned out fast are usually missing in quality…

Judy Chou, one of the members of One Million Star or Xing Guang Bang, has released his first album, So What, which is an EP. Judy Chou is also known as Rain Chou for his dancing skills which he learned by imitating the steps by the ‘real’ Rain. His dancing prowess had helped him to become the first runner-up in the first season of One Million Star. So What contains 4 tracks including the track of the same title. Honestly, I am one of the many in this world who is baffled by the name selection of the members of Xing Guang Bang. Judy is so girl… I am certain most of us will imagine a female singer if the album cover is not available!
