Ruby Lin Xin Ru - New Rubyology

Ruby Lin Xin Ru of Princess Pearl or Huan Zhu Ge Ge fame has released her third studio album, New Rubyology, which is also the first in 4 years. She released her first album, Hearing or Xin Tiao, which is an EP in 1999 after gaining huge popularity for her role as Zi Wei in Princess Pearl or Huan Zhu Ge Ge. The EP was a success as it won her numerous awards and this was followed by her second album in 2001, Face 2 Face or Shuang Mian Lin Xin Ru, which was also well-received. However, she was concentrating on her movie career and only signed a new contract in June this year. New Rubyology contains 10 songs and Ruby Lin Xin Ru is said to have been greatly involved in the production of this album. For me, I have not heard much of her songs except a few of the theme songs from the popular series…

Actually your description of Ruby Lin’s music success may have been exaggerated and untrue. None of her albums were well received because everyone knew she did not have the vocal to become a singer. She did not win awards for her music except once for a song in one of her drama. But the award was for the song not for her vocal. I have listened to her new album, and because I know what good music is, I can tell you that it is not impressive. I felt it was a complete joke. The songs were beautifully written but again the vocal was terrible, which is sad because these songs are meant for people who cannot sing high notes. This is not a comeback album, and it is far from being successful. It is “popularize” by her fans but trust me, if you have the ability to hear (even if you cannot sing) you can tell how horrible of a singer she is. I’m sorry to disappoint you.

Firstly, I fully agree with you. She certainly doesn’t sing well and this album shows her flaws as the songs are very good but her vocals made them sound mediocre. In fact, I stated clearly that she was made famous by the drama series and I have only heard the theme songs and none of her other songs.
