Internet Explorer 8 Will Be Standard Compliant

Microsoft has announced the compatibility of the next version of its internet browser, Internet Explorer 8 [IE8], with the web standard to be its priority. The upcoming Internet Explorer 8 will have three rendering engines or modes which are the standard-compliant mode, the Internet Explorer 7 [IE7] mode and the older websites-displaying mode. Although IE8 initially has the IE7-rendering engine as the default option, it now has changed to the web standard-compliant mode.

IE8 made headlines in December last year when it passed the “Acid2 Face” test which is a test to measure the extent to which a browser conforms to a series of widely used Web standards. This is because Microsoft has a history of developing Internet Explorer without taking into account the web standards. In fact, Internet Explorer and Microsoft Expression Web [formerly known as Microsoft Frontpage] are known to adopt their own standards and not the open web standards.
